About

I had never heard of “the freshman 15” until I became an example of it. Growing up I was always active in soccer and other sports and was always able to eat what I wanted and still feel good about my body.  Two years into my Nutritional Sciences program at the University of Manitoba however, I noticed a change.  I was learning, researching, and writing about the benefits of healthy living and physical activity, but I wasn’t living the life myself.  In June 2006, at 22 years of age, those 15 lbs, late night fast food runs and sporadic trips to the gym . . . had met their match.
I was desperately seeking a way to lose the additional weight but I had no clue where to start. I began going to the gym regularly but without the proper diet, was seeing no results. At the peak of my frustration, I came across an advertisement for the very first FAME competition coming to Winnipeg and I decided right then and there that that was going to be my new goal. The very next day I got a dedicated and knowledgeable friend onboard  and was on my path into the fitness world.
The first time I stepped on stage was in June 2006 here in Winnipeg. I fell in love with the sport, the lifestyle, and my new look and from then on, could not be stopped. My next stage appearance was in November 2006 at the FAME North American Championships in Miami Florida. There, I won my Pro status which only added fuel to the fire. One year and three shows later, I was on the stage again at the North American Championships only this time in the Pro division. To my amazement, I took the title once again and was crowned the FAME North American 2007 Pro Champion. With this victory followed the honor of being asked to host my very own fitness competition in my hometown of Winnipeg Manitoba in partnership with FAME. Planning, promoting, and organizing the event was very challenging however being ‘behind the scenes’ of an event turned out to be a fantastic learning experience for me. The ‘Ainsley McSorley FAME Championships took place in May 2008 and was a great success!
Through adopting a more fit and healthy lifestyle, I have learned a great deal about myself inside and out. I have become much more aware of healthy eating habits and aspire to instill the same in others around me. I have also learned a new level of dedication and control over myself which has extended into all areas of my life, especially my studies. I believe that I am now a much stronger and more confident person and am much happier with myself as a whole. Entering the fitness industry has been nothing but a positive turn in my life.
Although healthy eating and active lifestyles remain important to me, I do believe in a balanced lifestyle as well. My friends and family hold a prominent place in my life and sharing a great meal or a night on the town with them is part of a balanced and healthy lifestyle to me. As I am still young, I feel it is imperative to have some fun too!
Today, I am a much different person than the girl I was only two years ago, before fitness was a part of my life. I am a much stronger, more dedicated individual who knows the true meaning of hard work. As of December 2008, I will be a Deititian with my Nutritional Sciences degree and my aspirations are to use my fitness and nutrition background to promote and instill healthy lifestyles in others around me. Health and fitness are not only important in terms of aesthetic appeal, but are also vital in disease prevention and overall quality of life. My wishes within the fitness industry are to inspire and motivate others to adopt healthy and active lifestyles.

Today, I am a much different person than the girl I was only five years ago, before fitness was a part of my life. I am a much stronger, more dedicated individual who knows the true meaning of hard work. After completing my Human Nutritional Sciences degree and gaining some very valued work experience as a Nutritionist and Personal Trainer throughout Winnipeg, I now own my very own fitness facility, ‘Revive Fitness with Professional Edge’ where our team is dedicated to assisting and educating all who walk through our door no matter how large or small their goal.  My aspirations are to use my fitness and nutrition background to promote and instill healthy lifestyles in others around me. Health and fitness are not only important in terms of aesthetic appeal, but are also vital in disease prevention and overall quality of life. My wishes within the fitness industry are to inspire and motivate others to adopt healthy and active lifestyles.
