So my cleanse is long over and to be completely honest, I am feeling really crappy….tired, run-down, some bloating. If I had my choice I would have continued on Isagenix products, not the cleanse of course, but there are many options designed to help you maintain weight (or continue losing) that taste delicious and are so nutritious! The only reason I did not continue, is because I am beginning to train for the Arnolds 2012 and it will take some time and practice to incorporate the Isagenix products into contest training, which I dont have time for right now.

On another note, there are some exciting things brewing up over here so stay tuned and I’ll be posting the news asap!

First off, Id like to thank you all for following me on my journey! To avoid any confusion, Id like to explain how this all works with the 9/30 days. Isagenix offers a 9 day cleanse (which is technically 11 days) and a 30 day cleanse, which I ordered. In both, the initial 11 days are identical so I am blogging this as if I was doing the 9 day for those of you who choose to do so, and I will continue on with the cleanse until my shoot is over next week (my 9 day got spread out a little and shoot moved up so will not be total 30 days in the end). I also would like to mention that I am going to continue using these products in my everyday life as I feel so healthy, have been able to maintain weight through some rough patches (referring to 3 dinner plans in a row last week! LOL), and its also easy to prepare.

Throughout this entire process, my energy levels have been higher than ever. I have always crashed in the afternoon and needed a cat-nap and now, I can hardly nap when I try! My skin is looking healthier and my nails are hard and strong…all while continuing to lean out! This to me is amazing since typical dieting has led me to exhausted days, breakouts and brittle nails. I can confidently say that I feel 100% ready for my shoot, and Im a full week away! This has been the easiest ‘lean-out’ I have done to date. Never feeling hungry, never craving, never giving in.

As far as my workouts…they have been great! I toned down the intensity at the beginning of the cleanse in order for my body to adjust and have increased the intensity slightly as I went along. Typically I did high rep weight training at the gym and was sure to walk my dogs for minimum 30 minutes each day at a brisk pace (dont worry, my dogs dont suffer, I have help! LOL).

AND NOW….FOR THE NUMBERS….This morning I weighed in at 118.4lbs (along with a visit from Aunt Flow…this is important when it comes to weight!). To be honest, the last time I weighed this much, I was preparing to head off to compete at the Arnold Classic. Crazy! I would assume that without my monthly visitor, my actual weight would be near 117.5lbs at most. My measurements have not changed since last time, mainly due to the fact that there’s not much more to move!

I have been extremely happy with the Isagenix product line and as mentioned above, will continue to integrate them into my daily life. I feel healthy, energetic and am looking tight, lean and “tiny” as I was told today!

I will be posting before, after, and shoot pictures for you all to see the results visually!

So I should have completed my cleanse by now but for social reasons (including my bf’s birthday I could not postpone 2yrs in a row), I have pushed back my 2 deep cleanse days. I ended up having 3 dinner plans in a row! Normally if I was preparing for a competition, I would have brought my own food to these outings but for this photoshoot, I was not willing to sacrifice my social life. I went out for dinner on Thursday and had a lamb entree, had a potluck on Friday with my girls and had a family dinner on Saturday. There was no way around it. I kept up with my regular shake days throughout the day prior to heading to dinner and much to my surprise, was only 121lbs this morning! This means that the Isagenix is actually helping my body efficiently metabolize foods and keeping my metabolic rate running high!

I began my final deep cleanse days this morning and the complete results will be in by Tuesday morning so stay tuned for final weigh in and measurements!

I feel healthy, energetic and fabulous!

On another note, I went to see my Athletic Therapist on Friday since my shoulders were completely out of line, left sitting much higher than the right. This man, is amazing with the body. First thing he asked me was if I was having digestion problems and I thought about the morning bloating I had been feeling (I was blaming it on the cleanse). He said that my pelvis was stuck in a tilted position, creating a larger arch in my lower back than normal. Then further explained that when this happens, it creates a ‘hump’ for my digestive system to push the food over while lying down, therefore creating my morning bloated feelings! With much manipulation, things began to release. I could feel my lower abdomen releasing and my lower back falling slowly towards to table as I lied there, and the most amazing thing…my stomach started gurgling immediately! WOW!

Ok guys, I am half way through the 5th day and have been feeling amazing this entire time. My energy levels have been up each and every day, and I have noticed my hair and skin perking up a little (however somewhat skeptical…wondering if that is only because I have not been putting crap into my body?). Either way, my body is feeling healthy and LEAN!

The first day, I weighed myself but there was a little miscommunication from my scale. It read 128.5lbs and also 125.5lbs. If you have ever trained with me, you will know that I am not a fan of scales and weight due to its major fluctuations and variables so of course, I took my measurements too.

So far, I have done 2 pre-cleansing days, in which I mentioned in the previous blog. After that I completed 2 deep-cleansing days that consisted of 4 cleansing drinks and 8 Isagenix snacks throughout the day. The idea of the deep cleanse is to not eat any outside food but I listened to my slight hunger pangs and had a few very neutral and clean snacks as needed. Again, my energy was so high throughout this entire process.

One thing I do notice however, is that I am not able to fall asleep as quickly as normal, but still get a good nights sleep. I typically fall asleep within 3minutes of my head hitting the pillow, BUT have also read that if you fall asleep within 5 minutes, you are too exhausted. Therefore Im thinking that maybe my body is just receiving all of the minerals and nutrients it needs for efficient functioning, leaving me less tired overall?

And now to what you’ve all been waiting for…the results!

Todays weight: 120lbs (started at 125.5 or 128.5) = 5.5 (or 8.5lbs)!

Inches lost: .25” in waist, .75″ in hips, 1.25″ in thigh = 2.25″ in total!

Now, just a few notes on how I actually LOOK. I do look leaner and smaller overall BUT I do not look as tight and as hard as I normally would at this weight after competition diets. I am not sure if this is because I have not been training nearly as hard, or is it because my weight loss was so quick that my skin has not yet tightened along with it? Im not sure, but I will definitely keep you posted on all of this (pictures to come!). Hoping for this to be the next step. Either way, in 5 days, I am pretty much where I need to be for my shoot. Amazing!

Thus far in the cleanse, I am very happy with the results, lack of cravings, energy and satiety. Stay tuned for my final results, as Im now 3 weeks away from my shoot!

What inspired me to try this cleanse comes from a combination of things. One being that in my profession, I see many women who struggle with weight loss. Sometimes the women struggling are doing the right thing but their bodies wont respond. This particular cleanse claims to “re-set” the body and especially its liver and kidney function which is responsible for filtering out the toxins. Another reason is because I am often asked about cleanses by clients and figured I should try one personally before ever talking about them. Finally, I saw some amazing results with my own eyes; I had a client who struggled beyond belief to drop pounds and the scale would never budge….now 18+lbs down, she is a strong believer in this product…and I HAD to try it to believe it for myself.

After a long summer, I am sitting about 5lbs above where I would like to be for my off-season weight, but I also have a photo-shoot coming up next month which I would love to be lean for. My goal for this month is to lose 6-8lbs.

This particular cleanse comes with the option for a 9day cleanse or a 30 day cleanse and I have chosen the 30 day, so follow my journey here to see what all the hype is around Isagenix.

Day 1 & 2 are pre-cleansing days. Consisting of 2 shakes, many of the Isagenix snacks and one meal of lean protein and vegetables. I will say right off the bat that I do not plan on following the cleanse 100% as I do not have far to go in terms of changes, but I have prepared a few healthy and neutral snacks that follow the general idea of the program including; celery and natural almond butter, hard boiled eggs, apples, and a tomato & avacado salad, as well as an abundance of chicken breasts and fish. I have all of this prepared and portioned in my fridge, a VERY important step to following any type of eating program.

From this cleanse, I hope to lean out somewhat but most importantly I am looking for health. I have followed so many meal plans that always leave me feeling extremely drained and my skin not looking so healthy, so now Im looking for a way to lose and maintain body weight while keeping energy levels high and my skin, nails and hair strong and healthy.

Starting this morning, I was feeling crampy and gassy (shh!) from eating bad food while away this past weekend. I began the program spot-on from 8am, where I took ‘before’ pics and measurements as meal 1. I cant say its magical and I felt better immediately but I definitely felt full and had to sip on my shake very slowly to finish. I actually felt full all day long without taking in many calories at all. My energy levels were through the roof as well and I felt great UNTIL I went to workout. My workouts consist of very high intensity circuit training and with the limited calories, my body hit exhaustion much sooner than normal and I felt quite sluggish afterwards for a few hours. For the next few days I will definitely tone down my workouts as my body adjusts.

Aside from the workout brickwall, I have felt great all day. No bloating, no # 2′s like most cleanses, satiety and high spirits. Im off to a good start!

Stay tuned for weight loss and more details to come!

What the Fitness Industry has done for me

As with anything in life, there are pros and cons, and people will never hesitate to point out the cons. Today I want to focus on the positive side of things this industry has done for me as a person.

I began in the fitness industry in 2006, a second year university student studying Human Nutritional Sciences yet having no clue about a healthy lifestyle or exercise. Sure, I was learning the science behind nutrition and the human body but I wasn’t learning the true importance of a healthy diet and exercise.

I played sports of all kind growing up and that is all I knew. I was able to eat whatever I wanted and remained fit and thin due to my young metabolism and various activities. As many of us know, once the early 20’s begin that metabolism slows down and many of us are faced with the ‘freshman 15’ or more! I was a victim of this vicious cycle. Uncomfortable in the foreign body I was then living in, and not sure of where to turn, I saw an advertisement for a fitness show coming to my hometown and began my journey with blinders on the following day. With the help of some friends I began researching and learning my way around the gym and nutrition.

Being quite young and unknowledgeable in the large world around me, I had no idea what this journey would bring to me. Now looking back 5 years and 10 competitions later, I can see the person I have become and the things I have learned through this crazy world of competing. Before experiencing first-hand what competing can do for you as a person, I saw the sport the same way many outsiders see it; working out, eating chicken, and boring. Since beginning however, I have become a much better and stronger person mentally and emotionally, not only physically. Of course I love the way I have transformed my body but even more so, I love the way I have transformed myself on the inside. Through the training that competition prep takes I learned the value of dedication and hard work and carried these skills over to other areas of my life as well. I quickly became a much better student, employee, friend and family member. I realized the true value of hard work and saw where it can get you in life and the results were astonishing to me! I was feeling healthy and energetic, looking great, doing well in other aspects of my life and was quickly addicted!

I have since turned a simple journey towards getting into shape into a lifestyle and now a career. It is truly rewarding to be able to inspire and teach others how to adopt healthy and active lifestyles on a daily basis, and to watch those around me begin the same path I chose, just 5 years ago. I would not be the person I am today without taking that first step towards the fitness industry. Goals, achievements, and my personality continue to grow in this crazy thing called fitness.

Hello World!

First off, I would like to thank you for visiting my site. I like to think that I am a very down-to-earth girl, just trying to carry out my passion which happens to be the fitness industry! I enjoy being able to achive my goals through old fashioned hard work, watching the changes I am able to make in my body, educate myself, and pass that knowledge on to others around me.

The past few months have been a whirlwind for me but in the most wonderous way! I was featured in my very first Oxygen fitness magazine (January 2011, 2011 Fat Loss Special edition), I was chosen and featured in Inside Fitness Hot & Fit 100 for 2010, I also opened my very own fitness studio called Revive Fitness, I signed sponsorship with Magnum Nutraceuticals AND I am training to compete in the upcoming Arnold Classic! Wow that was a mouthful.

I want to thank you for all of your support as I carry on through this journey of happiness and achievement.

I promise to keep you updated from here on out. Stay tuned!

Ainsley
